That distinction matters. Surface-coated prints sit on top and wear off. Sublimated dye is in the fibre, which is why a properly made printed rug survives washing while a cheap one fades after a few cycles.

Where printed rugs genuinely win

Design freedom that weaving can't match. Woven construction limits colour count and detail resolution. Printing doesn't. Photographic imagery, fine gradients, character artwork, complex illustration — none of it is realistically weavable at consumer prices.
